Long hire and busy seasons
Most visits home last two to six weeks. The longer you keep the car, the lower the price per day, and the earlier you ask, the easier it is to plan.
Longer hire, lower price per day
The price per day depends on how long you keep the car. There are three bands:
- 5 to 9 days
- 10 to 20 days
- 21 days or more
Every hire is for at least five days. The prices page shows the price per day in each band, and you choose your own currency when you ask for a price.
Hire length counts both the day you arrive and the day you leave.
When Sri Lanka is busiest
December and January are the busiest months by a distance. In 2025 Sri Lanka recorded 258,928 visitor arrivals in December and 252,761 in January, the two highest months of the year. July and August are a second, smaller peak. May, June, September and October are quieter.

Planning a long stay
- Give us your flight numbers. Airport pickup is included in every hire. We track your flight, so a delay does not affect your pickup.
- Check your licence early. Pick a temporary licence period that covers your whole stay. See the driving licence page.
- Tell us who will drive. Additional drivers are free, but each one shows their licence before they drive.
- Dates can change. Ask us as early as you can. We confirm what we can do, depending on availability, and the five-day minimum still applies.
If your plans change
Cancelling more than 48 hours before collection is free, and we refund everything you have paid. Inside 48 hours, or if you do not turn up, we charge one day's hire and refund the rest. The full wording is in our terms.

When should I ask for a price?
As early as you can, especially for December, January, July and August, which are the busiest times. Asking for a price costs nothing and nothing is charged until you accept our quote.

What happens if I cancel?
