About Kinway
Kinway is self-drive car hire in Sri Lanka, for Sri Lankans living abroad and coming home for a few weeks. You book from wherever you are, in your own currency, and the car is waiting when you land.
What we do
Coming home for two to six weeks usually means sorting out transport on top of everything else: relatives to visit, parents to look after, a few trips to fit in. We make the car the easy part.
Every hire is self-drive, so you set the plan. If someone in the family would rather not drive, or you want a driver for a few days, we can add one on request.
Who we are for
We built Kinway for Sri Lankans living in the UK, Canada, Australia and Italy, and for anyone else coming to Sri Lanka for a longer stay with family. You can book from anywhere in the world.
Hires are for at least five days, and the price per day falls on longer hires. See long hire and busy seasons.
How we work
- We meet you at the airport. Our agent tracks your flight, checks your documents and hands you the keys, even if you land in the early hours.
- Your price comes in your currency. A person replies within 24 hours, and nothing is charged until you accept.
- Everyone can drive. Additional drivers are free. Each one shows their licence and we keep a copy.
- Nothing to arrange at home. Anyone with a valid driving licence can get a temporary Sri Lankan licence on arrival. See your driving licence.
- Plans change. You can cancel free of charge up to 48 hours before collection.

Who is Kinway for?
Sri Lankans living abroad, in the UK, Canada, Australia, Italy and elsewhere, who are coming home for a few weeks and want their own car. Anyone visiting Sri Lanka for a longer stay is welcome too.
Is Kinway self-drive or with a driver?
Self-drive is our main service. A driver can be added on request, for the whole stay or a few days.
Where do I collect the car?
All international flights land at Bandaranaike International Airport (Katunayake), and our agent meets you there. We can also arrange a different place by agreement.
Which currencies do you quote in?
Pounds sterling, Canadian dollars, Australian dollars and euros. You choose when you ask for a price.
